Anahera Kingi

Anahera Kingi was born and raised in Whangarei, Tai Tokerau.
After completing a degree in Visual Communication in Auckland, Anahera has spent the last 5 years traveling around New Zealand working in small towns, meeting locals, searching for familiar signs and icons that speak of the "Kiwi" culture.
She is currently living and working in the Waikato.

"I explore nature, the environment, this planet – Papatuuaanuku, earth mother – as an observer and as one whose own health, wellbeing and wairua are impacted by the decisions made for me by previous generations. My present work witnesses what I see emerging in the natural, political and personal environments.  I place myself in the landscape, I place those I know and those I see in the landscape, our presence there brings new questions."
