It is a pleasure to have you here and we hope that you will stay a while and enjoy. The Tuatara store and gallery is in central Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand (Aotearoa). The shop opened in 2004, has become Northland's major outlet and showcase for local artists and is a collection of gorgeous things- a testament to the cleverness of our fabulous artists and an expression of our stunning country.

Tuatara aims to have the most diverse & eclectic selection of the most beautiful things in New Zealand; especially those that reflect Aotearoa & the Pacific. Traditional taonga (Maori treasures) sit alongside the best of contemporary NZ art & design as well as a handpicked selection of kiwiana kitsch & classic souvenirs.

Tuatara is proud to be a licensed stockist of Toi Iho - the Maori Made Mark. This trademark assists Maori to retain ownership and control of their taonga (Maori knowledge, imagery and designs) and is administered by the New Zealand Arts Council & Creative New Zealand.

As we stock so many artists' work, this website is just a smidgen of what we have in the shop. While we try and keep up to date with new stock please ask us if you don't see quite what you want.
